Vacuum booster is an important assembly part of the auto brake system. It influences the driving security directly so that it must be tested whether it reaches the design target and the related standards before leaving factory or in servicing in order to eliminate the driving danger. The virtual instrument based on LabVIEW is a kind of advanced technique with powerful analytical ability, flexible configure and rich tool modules providing many advantages for engineering test in virtue of computer and digital signal processing. The test system of vacuum booster has been researched aiming at the untrue result of existing test equipment. The test system has been designed with the integration of hydraulic pressure control technology, data acquirisition technology, electro mechanics and virtual apparatus. The performance parameters determination of vacuum booster has been achieved under the real brake circumstance by using the test system.The main contents included the principle and characteristic property of vacuum booster, the test system design and the test experiment. The hydraulic system, test-bed, hardware allocation and testing program have been researched and designed with national standards as a rule and the request of automobile technology and traffic safety development. The hardware and software design based on the LabVIEW test system were researched significantly. Hardware design consisted of the choice of sensor and data acquisition car, the design of conditioning circuits. The software design included the data-acquiring module, vacuum test module, characteristic curve display module and data storage module. The data circle and real time collection have been realized through the collection VI setting. Finally, the performances of chang'an star type vacuum booster have been tested by using the test system. The result indicated that the test system was reliable and the data acquirisition was accurate. Especially, the system could simulate the instance of auto in the state of long slope braking or frequent braking and has certain superiority compared with existing equipment.
