Highly Effective Public Space And Economizing Community

The paper is the sub-topic of the NSFC project "research for the soft-technology system of economizing community of the Yangtze River delta area". It attempts to investigate and research public space of the city community which is a relatively integrated and independent domain for the study of living area, there would be a discussion about principles of urban design for building economizing public space.This article bases on investigation and study of examples, its main theory premise is: the using efficiency is important basis for appraising economizing public space of city community on soft-technology aspect, well, it can be reflected by people' activities, therefore the "public activities" is the key to the examination for economizing public space.This research mainly divides into two parts: the first part is analysis for the examples, this part will find the characteristics of factors for economizing public space and how they work by contrasting the examples; the second part is analysis for the principles of urban design, this part will give some proposals for building economizing public space by analysis for the factors basing on public activities.Through two parts of discussions, the paper will form some principles of urban design for building economizing public space from the angle of "attenuating negative activities and strengthening positive activity". These principles can be concluded in four parts of content: first, function disposition and space design must base on inhabitants' necessary demands; second, the functions disposed for any space unit should be mixed in order to supplement each other; Third, the open-style public building is the most important element for constructing surface of the public space; Fourth, the city-furniture which can support for leisure activities and communicating is indispensable urban design element for enhancing economizing public space.
