Study On The Relationship Between Public Space And Public Activities In Shouyi District Of Wuhan City

As a branch of urban system,the public space of the old city has its special position:on the one hand,it has a close relationship with the surrounding areas of the city,serving a large number of foreign people every day;on the other hand,it is also integrated with the community,which supports the daily life of community residents while opening up.As an important part of urban space,the old city public space carries many urban functions,which is a very important part of urban public space.However,at present,due to the characteristics of both city and community,the contradiction of public space in the old city is obvious: the construction of facilities serving the city can not match the narrow size of the old city space,and the intervention of urban activities in the old city causes interference to the daily activities of residents.Finally,the contradiction makes the environment of public space in the old city chaotic and no longer vigorous.Therefore,how to coexist and promote both the urbanity and community in the public space of the old city is an important issue related to the public space of the old city.In order to improve the quality and vitality of the old city space,it is necessary to study the correlation between the old city space and public activities.How they influence each other and how they will develop in this state is worth further discussion and research.This paper takes the public space of Shouyi District in Wuhan as the research object,and observes and records the activity information and site information of the six selected public space nodes.For the public activities within the district,the qualitative research method is used to classify the diversified public activities,and the activities are divided into urban public activities and community public activities,and the characteristics of the two types of activities are summarized;For the public space in the district,the quantitative research method is used to quantify and summarize the spatial information of the selected nodes,and further analyze the spatial characteristics of the location of each node;Then,for the collected quantitative information of activities and spatial quantitative information,the research adopts the commonly used correlation coefficient analysis method in mathematics.By determining the correlation coefficient R between the district spatial information and activity information,the spatial characteristics and the correlation between the two types of activities are defined;finally,on the basis of clarifying the problems of public space in the old city and the different influence of space factors on the activities,this paper puts forward corresponding strategies and suggestions for the renewal and construction of public space in Shouyi District from the perspectives of urban public activities and community public activities;then,it feedbacks back the shortcomings of the research,and puts forward the prospect of quantitative research in the renewal of urban public space.
