Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers is the advantaged velocity measurement equipment in the word. China began to introduce the first ADCP system in early 1990's, and it has been widely used now, brings convenience to hydrological workers, civil water engineering projects and environmental protection department and makes the measuring data which are influenced by unsteady or tidally affected flow more accurate. In recent years, along with the gradual development of Embedded System, ADCP technology has been improved too. It reachs great achievement in the functions of real-time dynamic, high-speed processing, long-term storage, remote monitoring and network transmission and has fairly good application effect.The design and implementation of the ADCP system is flow measurement system under needs of actual project and based on the OMAP open multimedia applications platform. It is a further research after comparing the domestic and oversea current products. System bases on OMAP5912 dual-core processors (ARM926T and TMS320C5510 DSP) OSK5912 development tools, consisting of ultrasonic signal transceiver, OSK5912 main control unit, human-computer interaction interface and PC display software. It has good network transmission, storage interfaces and high-speed processing functions.Paper presentes detailed hardware design, software design and optimization study of ADCP system. System hardware design includes ultrasonic signal transceiver hardware circuit design, OSK5912 main control unit design and interactive interface hardware development. System software design includes application development, PC display software development and interaction interface software development. The performance of the system is optimized and the value of their applications is improved through the improvements of LMS algorithm.Finally, the results of the system design which is optimized and the system tests are analyzed. By contrasting to the testing of advanced foreign ADCP system, the analysis for flow measuring result of ameliorated design is presented as well as the expansion direction of the further development and design of the system.
