Abstract/Summary:
Body development has the characteristics of long periods, high cost and complicated quality control. Simultaneous engineering is an efficient method that shortens the cycle of development, controls cost and ensures products quality.Body development can be divided two stages designing and manufacturing. Mould/jig designing and manufacturing are the key technique for body manufacturing. In the body designing process, all kinds of technology factors for body manufacturing and feasibilities for mould/jig manufacturing are considered simultaneously, and then lots of technology problems could be avoided in tooling and body manufacturing. In the body manufacturing, design plan of body and technology plan of mould/jig designing and manufacturing are considered simultaneously to improve the quality of body designing and ameliorate technology plan of the mould/jig. The core of simultaneous engineering technique is body designing and manufacturing integration in the body development.In the body designing process, four systems are analyzed and studied in this paper. It mostly consists of body surface quality analyzing, product formability analyzing, and body welding technology analyzing, and white body dimension control and tolerance distributing analyzing. The key aspects of mould/jig simultaneous engineering are discussed systemically. Five hundred technology modifications are advanced in the real project. Theory and practice prove that simultaneous engineering could improve design quality, decrease project cost and shorten development cycle of mould/jig.Body manufacturing could be divided two stages of prototype and small-patch. In the mould/jig manufacturing, body structure design technology is optimized continually according to feedback on problems. Complexity of tooling development is simplified reasonably to save cost.To achieve the aim of body quality, structure design must be optimized and mould/jig adjusting balanced through further considering all kinds of current technology conditions. In real project, there are three hundred design modifications completed and body quality improved greatly.In conclusion, this paper treats of the simultaneous engineering applying to body development. Four mould/jig simultaneous engineering systems are researched and applied successfully in real project. Mutual feedbacks and optimization between designing and manufacturing are analyzed thoroughly. This paper presents a thorough study of mould/jig simultaneous engineering technique through theory and practice. It is significant for body development project.
