Automobile has become the necessary traffic tool in people daily life. Automoile covering part is an important part automobile. The development cycle of automobile vovering part affects this of automobile seriously. Automobile covering part is formed by stamping. In the sequential enigeering, it will cause the mould structure modify repeatedly and have a long development cycle.Concurruent enigeering is an advanced manufacturing technology. It considers the all factors of the development cycle of products, from the conceptual design to put in the market in the stage of design. This paper applys the concurrent engineering in the stage of design of automobile covering parts development. In the stage of design, it takes the comprehensive consideration of sheet forming, covering parts forming process, the mould structure, mould manufacturing. It reduces the mistake of design and avoids the design changes. It develops the mould successful in the first time and shortens the development cycle of mould.In the automobile covering parts process analysis, it reviews the drawing of covering mainly. It does the design of mould surface and the forming simulation. Based the result of simulation, the mould surface will be determined. In the automobile covering parts forming prcess, it does the trimming, flanging, punching process design and the simulation of all process. And it does the springback analysis. In the mould structure analysis, considered the influence of mould structure, the process mould surface will be determind. It does the structure analysis of mould.The application of concurrent engineering in the stage of automobile covering parts mould design can reduce the mistake of design and avoids the design changes. It develops the mould successful in the first time and shortens the development cycle of mould.
