A Study On The Urban Renewal Design Of Hanzhengjie Commercial District

The Hanzhengjie has the fine reputation of "the First Street in the world" since the ancient times. It has 500 years commercial development history, and is "the place of cradle"of the commerce and the commercial culture in the Old Hankou Town. But in the city renewal under market oriented principle, the traditional commercial market has one kind of disorder and the chaotic condition in the modern city life. For example, the traffic congestion, the environmental sanitation lacking facility, the high housing density, the building that is absolutely unable to withstand and so on. This causes the declining of space environment quality and then hinders Hanzhengjie from displaying its economic value and the social benefits.It has vitally realizable meaning to analyze hanzhengjie commercial district and to discuss the spatial pattern for seeking the spatial development pattern as well as protecting the commercial culture and promoting city's renewal in Wuhan. Meanwhile it has a certain value of the urban design theory for city's renewal in the domestic.Firstly, the article analyzes comprehensively the application in urban design and the value in city renewal of"Figure-ground Theory","Linkage Theory","Place Theory"in order to provide the renewal theory supporting of Hanzhengjie commercial District.Secondly, the article discusses the spatial form evaluation of Hanzhengjie commercial District, appraises a series of present situation such as land use, roads and traffics, landscape environment, form structure, and then analyzes the conflict between its form and situation, points out the current existent question in Hanzhengjie commercial District, also proposes its development pattern in view of these questions.Thirdly, the research uses the urban design thoughts of"Figure-ground Theory","Linkage Theory", and"Place Theory"to urban design of the Hanzhengjie commercial District in this article. According to the present situation and the existent question as well as urban design goal, it proposes main thoughts, and discusses the whole project. Finally, the article summaries urban design of the Hanzhengjie commercial District then analyses the application of"three theories"and enlarge it from concept of"Place repairs"and"layer".
