| With globalization and urbanism, the unique characteristics and urban ecology in the cities are disappearing. On the one hand, people more and more can't recognize their own belongings to the culture from the urban landscape, on the other hand the ignorance of the functions of the ecological system and values of the local landscape resources during the re-construction of the cities lead to the great waste of urban resources and ecological crisis around the whole world. To a certain degree, it is the result caused by the neglect and alienation to the"regionality".Any formation of the landscape originated from its locality. The bringing-over and copies only lead the urban landscape into confusion and loss of individuality. Therefore the regionality or locality is the only basic in design which is much more important than its styles and forms.Regionality design has a long history and it needs a more open way and more scientific and and practical concept in the face of the urban new problems in modern society. The urban landscape design based on its regions and local areas is not a certain style or school, but a thinking way and method to keep and boost the urban unique characteristics. Nowadays, a broad sense of regionalism based on the ecology and culture has become the effective guiding thinking to the regionality design. Only through these can people feel closely related to their cities which are also dissolved in today's global culture of different styles. |
