With the high-speed development of economy and technology in all fields,architecture also produced a variety of architectural thoughts and design concept,they are constantly affecting people’s lives,and even changing the evaluation standard of construction.And how can modernist architecture make better architectural creation in the face of today’s different geographical environment? How to coordi nate national,regional and modernity in contemporary architectural creation? Perhaps the American architect’s regional practice can give us some inspiration.This essay is mainly to the American modernism and northwest regionalism master Pietro Belluschi to interpret.Pietro Belluschi is the only American architect who has won the American Institute of Architects Gold Medal(1972)and the National Medal of Arts(1991).His name is currently in the domestic architecture is not known,but in the United State s especially in the construction field in the northwest of modern architecture movement and regionalism of architecture,he and Walter Gropius,Ludwig Mies van der Rohe,Frank Lloyd Wright has the same effect.Pietro Belluschi was an italian-born American architect who studied and stayed in the U.S.construction industry through an exchange program at Cornell university.Most of his early works were in the northwestern state of Oregon,and later he was chairman of the department of architecture and planning at MIT.Later,he was more involved in design as a design consultant.As one of the most respected architects in the United States,he insisted on solving the problems of urban and rural construction with modern architectural design methods.Because of his unique understanding of the regionalism and modernity of architecture,he has been widely praised as a home and a church,and a place where many architects should learn.This is also the study of Pietro Belluschi.This paper is composed of five chapters and is divided into three parts.The first part(chapter 1)clarifies the project,the purpose and significance of the research,the domestic and international situation of the research and the methods of the research and the organizational framework of the thesis.The second part(chapter 2 to chapter 4),expounds the construction development,and discusses the Pietro Belluschi etc of the overall characteristics of the architectural works and ideas,and that of Pietro Belluschi the manifestation of different architectural works carried out detailed research and analysis,thus study of his works and thoughts.The third part(chapter 5),to Pietro Belluschi design idea,and combined with Pietro Belluschi era background,analysis of Pietro Belluschi between contemporary architects and impact and influence on American architecture,and summarize Pietro Belluschi architectural creation inspiration and reference to our country.Based on the work place and practice,this paper divides the development process of Pie tro Belluschi into three stages,and analyzes its thought evolution and important work cases.By Pietro Belluschi works,we can realize the importance of respect for regional cultural,geographical environment,at the same time is more important in keeping the building under special environment,how the modern new technology,new material to improve its shortcomings and the insufficiency of the original building,namely regional expression of modern technique.In dealing with the relationship between architecture and environment,Belluschi can intervene in the environment in a way that can weaken the sense of building,and find the appropriate building form by observing the surrounding architectural style and landscape environment.Only in such thinking and learning can our architectural creation practice take a new step.
