Research On The Development Of Modern Architectural Regionality In Taiwan

"When we talk about today’s architecture of Taiwan, there is a group of young architects who concern about the regional environment and demand. They participate in the community, profoundly understand the local architectural technology...trying hard to establish some comment belong to Taiwan’s architecture."In order to explore the Taiwan’s architectural comment and the driving force behind. This paper take the development of postwar Taiwan architecture as time context, study the modern(1950s-1970 s, 1970s-1980s) Taiwan regional architectural issues and the development characteristic and related influence factors, to outline the development clues of the regional architecture in the postwar Taiwan. Based on the historical development clue, this paper takes the regional practice and comment of contemporary(1980s–2014) Taiwan architecture as the main analysis object. Combining with the relevant theory of regionalism and the reflection to the postwar Taiwan regional architecture, this paper makes the specific analysis of the comment and practice of contemporary Taiwan architecture based on "the life experience of community care", "systematic discovery of regional space and the local material" and "the responds to the natural conditions and the sustainable development".Based on the interpretation of the regional issues of the postwar Taiwan architecture, this paper thinks the differences between the regional point is the reason that the regional issues is discussed; On the other hand, Based on the diversified development of contemporary regional architecture in Taiwan, this paper expands the regional cognition: Region is not only a closed system; Regional architecture practice can be a life identity and the combine with the nature; The embodiment of the regional is human-being and human life, the study of the regional architecture is not only the building itself; Region diversity should lie in the way of interpretation on regional issues, and the ways of distinguishing the region will be much more important than the region itself.
