The Track Study On Urban Human Settlements Construction In Chongqing In The Past Decade(1997～2007)

At present, the construction activities in China are extremely active, which destroy the natural landscape and the environment of human settlements in the urban area to a certain extent. Moreover, the introduction of construction models from the western countries makes the urban landscape images homogeneous in China, and tremendously hurts the original characteristics of Chinese cities. Under these circumstances, it is imperative to do some researches on the construction of human settlements in the urban area.Chongqing is a city with obvious contradiction between urbanization and human settlements, so doing researches on Chongqing's human settlements construction has good significance of demonstration. Meanwhile, because of the mountainous environment in Chongqing, the study can improve the research system on human settlements in mountainous region, and hence has positive academic meanings. Moreover, the research discloses the conspicuous contradiction between the rapid development of urban areas and the deterioration of ecological environment, which prompts us to think more rationally about city construction, and hence has significance of reflection.This paper is subordinate to the"Construction of Human Settlements in Chongqing During the Past Decade(1997~2007)". It is targeted at the research on the construction of landscape and features in Chongqing. The paper has two parts, the theoretical construction and the empirical study.In the theoretical construction part, we firstly describe the background, landscape pattern, constitutive elements, landscape features and culture origin of Chongqing, and take the theory of urban image as the theoretical basis of the study according to the landscape features in Chongqing. Secondly, we try combining the three parts of the urban image theory, i.e. structure, personality and meaning, with the landscape features in Chongqing, interpret further the landscape system in Chongqing, and conclude them into three aspects: landscape pattern, distinctive visual landscape and cultural context, which provide a clearer framework for the study.In the empirical study part, we firstly make an elaboration on the landscape and features construction in Chongqing during the past decade from a time dimension and a space dimension, and point out the problems of the construction during the past decade. Secondly, we raise four strategies to solve the problems, i.e. constructing a city layout harmonious with nature, enhancing distinctive visual landscape, extending cultural context and improving management and control of the landscape and features planning. Thirdly, we present two cases, the protective planning of Ciqi Kou District and the city image design of Yuzhong Peninsula in Chongqing, to provide empirical support to our strategies. Finally, we take a brief review and summary of the research.
