A portable vibration frequency spectra analyzer based on NIOSâ…¡softcore processor and Altera's FPGA is designed in the paper. It is used to monitor and diagnose the failure of the circumgyrate machine. Using the SOPC technology, the signal collecting and processing circuit are carded out by programmable system on chip, whose characteristic is that the control of the ADC, the digital signal filter and the design of the FFT are integrated by the FPGA chip, in order to control the 32 bit CPU's statement by the NIOSâ…¡. There are circumgyrate machine, such as engines, in the engineer machinery and vehicles, and the abnormal vibration always impacts the work, even makes serious accidents. This analyzer can monitor and diagnose the vibration frequency spectra of the engine and the gear case regularly or real timely. Great economy benefit will be gained when it is used in civilization machinery.Four aspects are discussed in this paper. First of all, the working process of the ADC chip is controlled by the FPGA, in order to exchange data between DSP module in specific time. Also, time sequence of the ADC's pins is controlled, and to make the two parts work synchronizedly, corresponding VHDL program is written. Second, using the SOPC Builder, NIOSâ…¡based 32 bit CPU soflcore is implemented, and corresponding C/C++ and compile macro code are established, which make the software can access the user's definition logic. Synthesize, compile and emulate are done to the VHDL's RTL code and emulate file produced by the top design. Third, in assist of the powerful performance of the Matlab and DSP Builder, the DSP module is designed, and the FIR and FFT modules are developed and added to the SOPC system, which make it easily be accessed by the NIOSâ…¡. Fourth, the operation system uC/OSâ…¡is added in the NIOSâ…¡, which improve the stabilization of the system and the ability of update, and lower the difficulties of the development. Since the whole design is based on the FPGA, all the characteristic of the FPGA system, including parallel DSP process, on system program, and easily update, are included in this system, the design can easily be turned to production.
