This paper focuses on how to design digital office appliances with beauty of both applicability and appreciation and also emphasizes digital office appliance design (DOAD) should be endowed with mental value.In the introductory part, background information about this paper is manifested and the key issue is proposed. There are three principles given here which have great impacts on DOAD. First, DOAD should meet the demands that nowadays people need harmonious office environment characteristic of individuality, humanization, aesthetic care, greening, health, efficiency and convenience. Secondly, DOAD should be people-centered, that is, pay more attention to studying different work force in order to fulfill their special needs. In modern society, there are various kinds of working patterns.Accordingly, DOAD should take that into account. Design for big corporations, which feature in collective office working, should set priority to systematicity and combination of structure. At the same time, professional features of users should be considered as an very important element. Design for SOHO or small working group should try to be space-free, multi-functional and easily handled and so on. Design for mobile office should focus on how to enhance mobility with consideration of size and weight and so on. Designers can apply knowledge of man-machine engineering to exploration of functions.
