Roadway is the frame of a city, reflecting the development of its politics, economy and culture, and is the link of city appearance and landscape surroundings. With the booming of economy, the change of lifestyle and concept of people, roadways of a city, apart from being means of transportation, now shoulder the tasks of handing down traditional culture and meeting the aesthetic demands of people as well. However, due to ourselves economically or conceptually, the roadways are far functional enough behind to fulfill above tasks. Roadways of the mountain city are the public corridors, which exert great impact on the whole image and landscape characteristics of it, and necessary roadway landscape-designing is the way to enhance it. But nowadays, the city beautifying campaign, characterized by geometrical and aestheticism engineering, leads the way of roadway landscape-designing, making the deterioration of environment and the degradation of roadway landscape-designing, and better designs are less popular regarded. It is complex and tedious in terms of types of roadways in mountainous cities, and the context sets the landscapes of common roads and throughways as the researching objects, analyzing the landscapes elements and traits, accordingly to the specific roads conformation and the special terrain conditions of mountainous cities, as well as the characters of every roadway themselves. Also, it combines abundant examples with the debates of basic theories and designing technique, in the hope of useful contributions to the constructions task of roadway landscape in mountainous cities of our country.The first chapter is the conspectus of roadway landscape-designing project in mountainous cities, which deciphers the landscape, the landscape in mountainous cities, and the traits of it. Meanwhile, it analyzes and concludes the affecting factors to it and the existing problems.The second section is to bring forward the constitutional elements of roadway landscape designing in mountainous cities and making process, and to give brief explanations to some important factors of it.The third chapter, based on the first two sections, gives the principle of landscape designing in mountainous cities, and practices the theories of ecology, vision and environmental psychology in the combination of understandings of traits of mountainous city and its roadways, I come up with my own opinion exploratorily about the theory of how to design the road landscape in mountainous cities.The fourth chapter makes out five points of landscape designing on the support of pre-discussed chapters, which is full extensions in: arrangements, angles of view, considerations, reservations and meeting the emergencies.The next chapter, under the research of the roadways and fields in typical cases, gives the main point in landscape designing. Its main propose is to consummate and supplement the paper.The last part proves the feasibility and applicability of the mooted landscape designing theories though some real cases: the industry area roadway, the shore roadway.
