The digital simulation applied in the research of power system has became the main measure in system decision, plan, dispatch, operation. Load model is one of the most important factors affecting the precision and reliability of the simulation result. The management of the data involved in the process of load modeling is very important to load modeling. Based on the load statistics of actual electric power network, the classification means of load characteristics of substations and the construction of load characteristics database based on component-based load modeling approach are researched, the load modeling platform software is developed.This article studies the load modeling methods and theories based on actual electric power network. It introduces the basic theory on load modeling, including the characteristics, approach on load modeling, which is the foundation of next chapters. It emphasizes on the load static characteristics and load modeling theory on component-based modeling approach. The gray relevancy clustering principle is applied to clustering the power aggregate load characteristics of substation. It uses the composition proportion of substation aggregate load as essential character and uses the gray relevancy degree as the basic index to measure the similar extent among the load characteristics from the aspect of relevance, proposes a method of the classification of load characteristics based on the gray relevancy clustering, finally finishes the classification of load characteristics of substations. At the same time, the method is applied to the selection of typical industry users. This work is a beneficial exploration for component-based modeling approach to be used in actual power system.This article focuses on the construction of the management platform of database based on the component-based modeling approach dealt with the great number of load characteristics. Through the research of load modeling, the author developed the modeling platform based on the component-based modeling approach using SQL Server 2000and VC++. Firstly the data characteristic and data flow were analyzed, the work of database design and data import was done with the help of SQL Sever 2000; Secondly the modeling platform was developed by using the advanced technique of ADO to access database in VC environment. The above research is an important constituent part on integrated load modeling platform.
