With the rapid development of computer and acoustic sciense technology and with the improvement of the automatic control technology, a higher demand of vector hydrophone calibration is asked. Measurement automation is the aim of acoustic measure fields always.This paper mainly talks about vector hydrophone calibration system for the development of automation. Firstly, the paper describes the hardware equipment and interface communication in detail. In this paper, the world's advanced PULSE 3560C system as the major hardware equipment is taken, coupling with the Mitsubishi PLC and advantech's I/O board as the control equipments. Secondly, the software development of communications and interface is introduced adquately, including the communication with PULSE 7700, PLC, advantech's I/O card and the software of EXCEL. Again, the designment and development of the application software are described in detail. This software is based on MATLAB 7.0 as a development platform, applying MATLAB GUI as development environment. It has many advantages, such as easy operation, humanization and good interactive interfaces. Finally, the experiment is carried out in the silence tank and vector hydrophone system.The experiment shows good results of measurement automation. It verifies that the PULSE system can be used as signal generator and measuring amplifier. Therefore, vector hydrophone calibration system basing on PULSE has many advantages, for example, automatic calibration, simple equipment, feasible measurement and high efficiency and accuracy. It has the great significance of acoustic measurement.
