Calibration is very important to guarantee the reliability of the equipment,the vector hydrophone buoy is a kind of direction finding of underwater target positioning equipment,it's reliability need to be verified by the calibration.However,the size of buoy platform limit it's can't be calibrated in the plane standing-wave field,the range of working frequency limit it's can't be calibrated completely in the free-field of anechoic tank,it is necessary to find the method of calibrating systematically the parameters of the vector hydrophone buoy,this paper puts forward the idea of calibrating it's parameters in the open sea.The vector hydrophone buoy consist of the components which complete the function of direction finding and other auxiliary parts,the direction finding components usually include the vector hydrophone(contains the sound pressure channel and the vector channel),the magnetic compass and the processor of the underwater acoustic signal,the parameters of the components and the processing method of direction finding of the platform all affect the accuracy of direction finding and location of the buoy platform.This paper determine the several main parameters of the vector hydrophone buoy which need to be calibrated on the basis of analysis of the error factors which influence the results of direction-finding of the vector hydrophone buoy.It is not subject to restrictions on the size of platforms and it's frequency range when calibrate the vector hydrophone in the open sea,but the sound field and work environment is relatively more complex,this paper will prove the feasibility of calibrating the vector hydrophone buoy on the open sea by using the based verification test of the calibration on the open sea,and proposes the specific measures and implementation plan for calibrate the parameters of the vector hydrophone buoy on the sea.For implementing the calibration method on the sea,the integral design of the hardware system is put forward,and the design and development of the calibration software is completed based on the Labview2013.It assess the uncertainty of the calibration method on the open sea based on the test data,the results show that the proposed calibration method on the sea can calibrate the parameters of the vector hydrophone buoy systematically.
