Theoretical Analysis And Studies On Kitchen Design For Aged People In Northern Cities Of China

China is the country with highly progressed rate of aging and also has the largest number of aged people all around the world. Most of aged people in China live out their lives in retirement in own house, which ensure them having enough time to spend in preparing everyday meal. Eating is not only the basic requirement for each aged people, but also is the symbol of the level of their living conditions. It would encourage aged people to do some work daily, which means exercise to some extent, and it would also make them enjoy the communication with their family and other people. Good kitchen design can surely provide suitable conditions for aged people to do better house work and make their work much easier and more convenient.This dissertation is base on the investigation of aged people in Northern cities in China, which emphasizes both on the basic measurements of their bodies and the common requirements of their behaviors. In dissertation, author puts forward the principles of interior design of kitchen for aged people by analyzing the behavior habit and functional need of aged people in their kitchen as using foreign research as references. The problems in kitchen's design of aged people's house in China are as well as summarized in this dissertation. These principles deal with many aspects of kitchen's design of aged people's house, such as arrangement of kitchen plan,elevation,environmental design,storage design,furniture design and decoration rules. The design of kitchen in aged people's house is one of the most important aspect of the interior design for every senior citizen in China.
