Architects' initial job is to "create space", but the ability of space research and analysis is also important. Our concern of picture space is inevitable. During the Renaissance, perspective made the painters and architects acquire the new space concept entirely different from the middle ages, the way of shaping space became drawing flat surface. By catching the plane picture, three-dimensional space is transferred into two-dimensional diagram. In order to experience this kind of space conversion, we should comparatively study typical model of paintings and their corresponding modern building works. From the point of view of space, the author attempts to comparatively analyze several pictures during the developmental period of perspective and modern building works, which is based on Peter Eisenman's diagram method which is called "critical textual reading". Concretely speaking, there are eight chapters in this paper. Chapter One clarifies the reason, content and methods of the study. Chapter Two discusses the close relation between the space mirage produced by perspective and the building space. The paper clarifies the generative principle of space mirage by perspective, introduces several cases of expanding the true building space by use of perspective, and then clarifies the significance of comparative reading of mirage by perspective and the true building space. This chapter is the theoretic foundation of the whole paper. From Chapter Three to Chapter Seven, they are all case studies, which particularize 5 pictures and 5 corresponding building works and respectively discuss "narrative space", "theatric space", "folding space" and "lighting space" among them. Chapter Eight states the meaning and value of this research, finds out the enlightenment to the architectural design, and confirms the next research direction. Finally, in order to promote the reader's convenience, I tidy up the source of illustration in the appendices.
