First, the paper presents some basic ideas, applications and development in mode analysis, DOE analyis and topology optimization filed. Then the simulation model of the light-truck is built and some research work about modeling method and element quality criteria is done. DOE analysis is been firstly used in auto body structure optimization. At last, a model for topology analysis is built and the topology results are used in frame optimization.The main research works are focused in the following aspects:1. Modeling of the light-truck cab. The model of light-truck cab is built and key points of modeling are pointed out.2. Mode shape and stiffness analysis. The CAE model is performanced, mode frequency and stiffness of the cab is computed. The silmulasion results present the cab resonance may be caused and the stiffness of the cab is not enough. The target of optimization is built to increase the mode frequency and stiffness of the cab.3. Optimization of the cab thickness by DOE analysis. By DOE analysis, the best way to increase the mode frequency is point out. The optimization effectiveness has been validated by comparing with the mode frequency of the cab. Using the optimization the cab mode frequency has increased by 16% and cab weight is decreased.4. Topology optimization of the cab.A model of topology optimization is built. Some suggestions for the frame design are pointed out according to thetopology optimization results.With more and more researches on DOE and topology in automobile structure optimization, much more research results will be obtained by using computer technology, theory analysis and experiments.
