The Research Of Stability Of Earth Dam On Soft Foundation

Soft soil is widespread in our country, it is loose,soft,porous,easy to be compressed and it's bear capacity is lower。Soft soil is stratified like a thousand layer cake ,although the distribution is regular to some extent, the coefficient of permeability of different layer changes a lot and thickness is variable, somewhere absent.The methods to research stability of earth dam are based on given condition, while the condition is always discrepant with practice, so it is significant and difficult to the engineering to select proper theory and accurate parameter of soft soil.In this article, we use plane limited element to analysis the seepage stability of earth dam the basic principle of stability against sliding of slop is the limited balance of rigid , calculated by Bishop arc sliding method and tested by compound sliding method settlement of earth dam is modified by one dimension consolidation and settlement formula based on linear elastic deformation theory.The research of stability of earth dam on soft foundation content: seepage stability, stability against sliding of slop and stability of foundation. Stability of foundation concludes stability against sliding and settlement.After comparing the calculation with observation data, we propose a fitting method to analysis earth dam on soft foundation in this article, hoping our experience be helpful to similar engineering.There are many factors to settlement of earth dam on soft foundation, such as gravity,aditional stress,history of the soil,process of adding load,speed of adding load , so it is very important to estimate the value of settlement in a simple way. In this article we provide the experience formula that settlement be related with consolidation time and building height of the dam, hoping it be useful to similar engineering.If we want to build a new reservoir on the basis of old one in plain area , it must be points out for attention that the parameter is different to the old and new section, and the soil layer changes a lot in both dimention .SO the time limit to the earth dam on soft foundation must be as long as possible so as to slow down the settlement of the foundation.
