From Mimesis To Creation

Metaphor, the conception within the rhetoric realm, is not the"advanced decorating stuff, which sticks on styles"any more. Metaphor graduately displays some deep nature of human recognization and creation thinking. Meanwhile, according to main body of metaphor thinking, the language, literature and even the existion of bodies also process the essential character of metaphor, which represents a kind of transformation. In fact, this sort of thinking is exactly the key spirit of Chinese traditional thought and philosophy, which are based on the indefinite world of instinction.In the first part of this thesis, I deeply digged the connection of the main idea and form in architecture realm with the development procedure of theory of metaphor thinking from Aristotle age. Then I figured out each meaning of"Yin"and"Yu"in the Chinese word"YinYu"(Metaphor); and in the second half of this thesis, I discovered the important effection of metaphor thinking throughout the whole life of the architecture design, especially, six typical situations of the metaphor system, which I created. Furthermore, I also pointed out some phenomenon of current China.
