Research On The Protection And Renewal Of Changsha Historic Street

This paper has made a research on the problem of protection and renewal of Changsha Historic Street. Changsha Historic Street is at an interim level between Historic street block and Historic architecture. It contains two parts: One is the main streets of Taiping Jie historic street block; Another is separated 11 historic streets according to《Protection Planning of Changsha Historic Streets and Buildings》(2004). They are prime historic view of ancient Changsha.Changsha Historic Street is an elementary cell of ancient Changsha city space. Before the research on its protection and renewal, first of all, the paper sets forth historical background of prosperous feudal commercial economy and neoteric revolutionary culture of Changsha, which give Changsha Historic Street a special temperament; and then it opens out the actual complex constitution of Changsha Historic Street, according to several historical evolvements that ancient sights have ever been experienced; Also, the paper has expatiated on the characteristic of Changsha Historic Street from aspects of local environmental geography, streets structure of"fishbone-like", traditional architectural patterns, and so on.On the basis above, comparing with current four types of protection mode about city historical cultural heritage in China, the author has drawn out a suitable pattern for Changsha Historic Street. And considering of the different connotation in two parts of Changsha Historic Street, the author suggests two kinds of protection prospects and methods to renewal respectively which are fitted in with each other. At the same time, combining with practical projects of Changsha Historic Street, the paper has made a further research on the protection of street space and buildings by making a detailed analysis for it.Following with Professor Liu Su, I have been participating in kinds of protection projects this two years. This experience gives me strongly historical emotion to ancient Changsha, and it comes up with personal viewpoints and attitudes forwards the protection and renewal of Changsha Historic Street.
