The author studies the traffic mode and street pattern of community, and tries to summarizing and inducing the factors which influence the traffic mode choice, through study the evolution of community traffic mode on each period in west and inside. The author establishes a reasonable relationship between the factors and traffic mode through consider the problem exist, and explores how to plan the community street.The author recites the evolution of community street pattern, by analyzing the format and causation of traffic mode on each period in west and inside. The author recognizes the development of community traffic structure follow the regulation that from variety to simplify and go back to diversify. This change tend to reasonable accompany with the development of economic and technology. The paper research the theory of community street pattern through study the relation between the community traffic mode and the factors including urban transport policy, site conditions, community orientation and historical context.The author analyzed the difference of functions which connecting the road characteristic directly. These functions included reach ability, traffic efficiency, security and so on. Beside each especial trait,every street pattern takes on different characteristic when be used in different community. The author lists the methods of optimizing the negativity trait, and confirmed by comparing the data.Finally, the author proposed the principle of community traffic mode choice under the influence of urban transport policy, site conditions, community orientation and historical context. All these principles adapt the characteristics on economic, social, traffic in our country.
