The Evolution Of Modern Urban Planning And Urban Design Methodology

Methodology, as a study of general approach and its philosophical reflection, is one of the important aspects of each subject. The research of it plays an important role in the development of those subjects. Because of its comprehensive and complex nature, it's a complicated issue to explore and reflect on the general approaches and the development of them in urban planning and urban design. In view of the deficit and necessity of methodology research in city planning and urban design, a summary of the development of modern city planning and urban design from a methodological perspective is made. The differences of its nature and its performance in certain cases before and after 60s are carefully studied. And based on this study, its profound basis from ideological and practical perspective is further explored and its development laws are revealed. Finally, the dialectical thinking of modern urban design methodology is proposed to give the direction of the development of urban design.
