There exist plenty of underground historic kiln sites in southern china, which induces us to adopt the way of"proper measure"to protect these sites. This kind of way is based on the intimate cooperation between the architectural section and cultural relic management one. The"proper measure"on the kiln site meet the needs of both revelation of the site and the tourist visit, and more important things are to alleviate the destroy of the site itself and its environment and create a favorable micro-environment. Thus, the thesis, from a point of view of concerning about proper measure'two functions, i.e. visit and conservation, attempts to find some ubiquitous but easily ignored problems by investigating some proper measure on the sites within the country, and afford some favorable to architect and cultural career staffs who undertake the task of kiln site conservation.The thesis has four chapters. In Chapter1, it reviews the development and background of site conservation at home. Chapter 2 and 3 summary the experiences and lessons at planning,architectural and environment design and site exhibition by analyzing plenty of cases. Chapter 4, it discusses the following issues with the idea of Overall Protect: the structural and tectonic issues for site conservation , and the planning of conserved site coverage. It shows the author's realization and reflection during the process of design by using the visualized case of practicing in a conservation project.
