A new theory and method of linkage mechanism scheme design and modeling techniques based on unit combination is presented in this dissertation. The new theory and method is based on the study of unit principle and reusability between the process of mechanism design, including definition and classification of design units, method of description and modeling, type of combination, together with linkage mechanism scheme reverse design and modeling techniques. Furthermore, the theoretical research is testified by the development of the linkage mechanism scheme design&modeling prototype system.The main work of this dissertation is as follows:Chapter 1 gives an overview of the current situation of Computer Aided Conceptual Design for mechanical product. Then, the merits and deficiencies of conventional CAD technology for product creative design are discussed. After that, some of the key technologies of mechanism creative design are expounded. At last of this section, the main content and strategy of the new theory for linkage mechanism scheme design and modeling techniques based on unit combination are introduced.Chapter 2 puts forward the basic method of linkage mechanism scheme design based on unit combination. Through analyzing the unit-character lies in mechanism design, definition and classification of design units are given and modeling of design units are introduced. Then, the basic type of unit combination are studied. Based on above, a design method of linkage mechanism scheme based on unit combination is presented.Chapter 3 proposes the reverse design method for planar linkage mechanism scheme based on fuzzy match. Through analyzing the measure synthetizing method and the typical shapes, the feature parameters of linkage curve graphics are given and the abstracting arithmetic is emphasizely studied. Then, the method and process of fuzzy match for linkage curves are expounded, and based on that, fuzzy searches by computer for planar linkage mechanism scheme is realized.Chapter 4 proposes the mapping modeling techniques for linkage mechanism. Description methods for design units of linkage mechanism are given and database of structure units is built. Then, mapping modeling techniques of design units are studied and the modeling process of linkage mechanism entities are expounded, which can contribute to transfer the design information between concept design and particular design.Chapter 5 introduces the linkage mechanism scheme design&modeling prototype system based on the research work above, some applying examples are also given.Finally, conclusions are drawn from this dissertation with recommendations for future research.
