With the development of city construction and the advances of constructional technology during the past two decades, more and more tall and super tall buildings with complex shapes and various layout configurations have emerged in China, resulting in a lot of wind environment problems that may affect the outdoor environment of buildings and health of human bodies. Wind conditions have a close and complicated relation with the building arrangement, surrounding environment and wind directions among others. The main purpose of this dissertation is to predict the commonly encountered unfavorable wind environment at the pedestrian height level (2.0m) around various building complexes and to found the mechanism of the corresponding phenomenon. In the dissertation, on the basis of the existing research achievement, the fundamental equations and numerical discretization and solution approaches for turbulent wind flow based on the averaged Navier-Stokes equation and RNG k-ε turbulence model are first established. As the first numerical example, a cubical single tall-building model is analyzed. The obtained numerical results are compared with the wind tunnel test results and the validity and accuracy of the numerical simulation are demonstrated. The numerical simulation is then carried out to investigate the wind environment state around a building complex consisting of six rectangular tall buildings. The six buildings under consideration are initially arranged into two rows and three columns. By altering the distance between the two adjacent buildings in each column, eight types of building complexes with different plan arrangement are obtained. The wind-velocity ratios and the corresponding velocity vector field in the area at the pedestrian height level (2.0m) surrounding each type of building complex are then examined and compared with each other. Some qualitative and quantitative relations between the wind environment...
