In high-rise and high-density urban areas, street canyons are not only the major wind path of the city but also the basic unit of urban wind research. Tall buildings define the space of street canyon, and determine the urban ventilation mode based on wind path. At the micros wind environment scale, layout of tall buildings has a decisive impact on the comfort of pedestrians. This study includes two aspects:firstly, the impact of tall buildings’ layout on urban ventilation efficiency; secondly, the influence of tall buildings’ layout on the wind environment comfort of pedestrians. In summary, this thesis analyzes tall buildings layout in the aspects of plane form, orientation, relationships with surrounding buildings and urban environment. This thesis further illustrates the cases of Manhattan and Hong Kong, and finally generalizes tall buildings layout optimation strategies...
