Research On The Planning And Application Of Bus Rapid Transit Infrastructure

BRT is a new type of public traffic system that is based on common public transit, supported by the ground road net, integrating modern bus technology, assimilating the merits of underground, meanwhile, gain priorities such as time, space(including setting runningways and preferential signals) and the policy support BRT is very important not only to improve the city transport and people's living standards, but also to keep the sustainable development of city economy. Owing to its predominant merits, BRT was extensively used both at home and abroad in recent years, but the research and development of BRT in our country are still at earlier stage. This paper, on the basis of experiences of BRT at home and abroad, is to make discussion and studies on the infrastructures' planning of runningways, stations, etc.First of all, according to the cases of running BRT both at home and abroad, it is to analyze the systematic characteristics of BRT (including concept, origin and development, the concept of its infrastructure, system constitute, advantages), study the status of BRT in integrated passenger transport system, position its function and put forward forms of developing BRT in the different grade cities in China.Next, it is to put forward the basic frame system of BRT runningways, discuss each part respectively, study the choices of its line. According to different types of runningways, setting form, dispositions in intersections, rationally analyze its application area, advantages and disadvantages, and lastly study the evaluations.Then, it is to make analysis and researches on the BRT stations (including terminals and stops) which influence runningways and infrastructures being successfully brought into effect, discuss how to choose the position and dimension of BRT terminals in principle, focus on analyzing the setting form, application area, setting condition, advantages & disadvantages of BRT stops. Propose setting condition and configuration toward BRT park&ride stops in different environment. Carry on research how can BRT connect with other transport.Finally, the paper is to make researches on the BRT infrastructure project in Nanjing. According to its fact, it is to analyze its suitable condition, select a line of BRT runningway, set up BRT stations on this runningway, and lastly evaluate it.The study of this paper is not only helpful to the knowledge of BRT, but also to the BRT planning in Nanjing and other cities, it is also to make promotions to the discipline of Transportation at a certain extent.
