Water temperature is an important factor of water quality. It is closely allied to other elements of water quality, such as COD and DO. And it also has a closer relationship with aquatic ecosystem. Aimed at solving the problems of lower temperature water of hydropower projects'effluent on water temperature distribution and aquatic ecosystem downstream of the dam, the water temperature distribution in the reservoir and the effluent water temperature at three different intake locations are predicted using the laterally averaged two-dimensional model in this paper. The main contents of the study and results are as following:1. The method for determining the inflow water temperature is chosen based on the practical data. Comparison of the prediction results between the longitudinal one dimensional mathematical model and the longitudinal water temperature variation method is carried out with the observed data. It shows that the longitudinal water temperature variation method conforms to the observed data and actual situation more than the longitudinal one dimensional model. Therefore the longitudinal water temperature variation method is chosen for determing the inflow water temperature of the Guanyinyan Reservoir.2. Water temperature distribution in the Guanyinyan Reservoir and effluent flow water temperature are predicted for the three specific hydrological years, which are high flow year, mean flow year and low flow year separately, using the...
