This paper was researched on the video camera system working inside the nuclear power station. According to the working condition, the video camera lenses and the assistant illumination systems were designed.At first, the effect of water medium on the imaging system was summarized. Beginning with the transmission of the ray under water, the characteristic of the ray transmitting in the water was researched. The relation between the illuminance on the CCD and that on the object surface was deduced in theory. The optical characteristic of the radiation resistant glass was discussed, and the new idear that the radiation resistant video camera system should be designed with broad spectral band was put forward.Then, a series of radiation resistant video camera lenses were designed using the ZEMAX. The lenses working inside the unclear reactor and the water pipeline were designed, which have function with radiation protection besides radiation resistant. Therefore, compare with other productions of the same kind, lenses designed in this paper have stronger competitive ability because of longer working life but no more expensive.Finally, the Tracepro optical emulator was used to simulate and design the LED illumination system to form a complete set with the video camera lens.
