The packaging of paper-box has many advantages and is widely used in various domains. To meet the increasing need and new requirement of new products' packaging, relevant CAD/CAM technology is urgently needed to improve the automatic manufacture of paper-boxes.Paper-box's CAN (Computer Aided Nesting) likes a bridge between paper-box's designing CAD and manufacture CAM. The input of nesting system is the expanded drawing of the paper-box, and the output of nesting system is the arranged pictures that the paper-box manufacture bases on. As a result, nesting system has a crucial influence on the whole automatic manufacture of paper-boxes. The performance of the nesting system directly influences the capability of the whole system, and increasing work efficient is propitious to ensuring the system work smoothly.For nesting system has a bridge function, the calculation of the Nesting must take both former and the latter systemic influence into consideration. Therefore, to exploit nesting system, we should first carefully analyze the characteristics of paper-box structure and manufacture process , and then on the basis of that we can design relevant function module and realize the system's input and output and calculation in many practical occasions.Many aspects involved in paper-box nesting are well explained in this paper, and among them we particularly focus on two aspects: one is how to ensure the precision and smooth of the data interaction between the nesting system and structure designing system .Firstly store data in universal interface files, and then propose an effective method of data acquisition and preprocess, including analyzing the structure of paper-box expanded drawing and the relation between drawing data and data process, especially in the preprocess, line-type classifying and arc dispersing and intersection breaking and back searching is all used to obtain the exact initial outline boundary.The other is how the paper-box manufacture system influences the designing of the nesting system. Various methods of nesting are brought forward in response to different producing situation. When there is only a single shape of paper-boxes to produce, system apply a layout based on structure element, the arranging pattern from which can be straight used into paper-box mould cutting. This method can keep manufacture continually and consider the relation between paper size and structure as well, so it can enhance the utilization of material. When there are many varied shapes of paper-boxes to produce, system uses intelligent irregular layout. Since the result of this method is to use laser cutting, the arrangement can relatively random. Thus, the utilization rate is used as the main evaluation standard. At the same time, in order to get more satisfactory answer, system improves the illumination ranging method. That...
