Anti-rolling tank(ART) is a typic anti-rolling device, The flow of water in the tank depends on the energy of ship roll motion, The moment of the water reduce the amplitude of ship roll, The ART have the feathers of simple structure and low cost, and the ART have well stabilization effect in zero speed and low speed, The energy consumption is little, The controlled passive tank have the functions of open ice and reduce the heel of the ship , The ART is widely used in the RORO ship,research and exploration vessel and cargo ship and so on.The anti-rolling tank experimental device is one of 211 key construction projects of Harbin Engineering University, which is the basic of this paper, The paper mainly aims at passive tank, and only simple analysis for controlled passive tank . In the early design stage, the design of structure,the choice of period and capacity of the U shape passive tank is difficulty, and in the last design stage , the bench test is also an important step.This paper builds up the mathematical models which are needed : The model of ocean wave motion,ship roll(linear, nonlinear), "ship-passive tank" system(linear,nonlinear) ,"ship-controlled passive tank" system , then according to the mathematical models, to carry through the simulation and analysis, which include simulation of time domain and frequency domain , the stabilization effect when the state of the sea, the course of ship, the speed of ship or structure of the ART change, On the basic of the simulation, in the third part, aim at a certain ship , the structure of the ART is designed, and the software is also designed, in the fourth part , the main content is bench test, include free oscillation test, forced oscillation test and...
