In this paper,a theory analysis and a simulation analysis are performed on the inertia brake by applying dynamatic method and ADAMS respectively, On the basis of these, An improvement on the inertia brake is presented.Firstly, Static and dynamic analysis are performed on the inertia brake,Some formulas about the performances of the inertia brake and the motion laws of the key parts are derivated, thus providing academic gists for the design and the improvement of the inertia brake.Secondly,a dynamatic simulation is performed on the inertia brake by applying dynamatic analysis software ADAMS and in combination of 3-D modeling software Pro/Engineer, Through comparison of the simulation results and the previous analysis results, the correctness and creditability of the simulation are proved.Thirdly,Starting from the derivated formula about the relation of the axial acceleration of the driving-top and the ascending angle of helix surface,The writer find an approach to weaken axial impact—to decrease the ascending angle of helix surface,The validity and correctness of the improvement are proved through the simulation results of the model which is improved according to the approach.Fourthly, A vibration analysis is performed on the inertia brake via ADAMS/Vibration module, The eigenvalues are founded which possess the real being close to zero,On the basis of this, According to the definition and the judgement of the stability of the control theory, The friction plates are conformitied, The results of vibration analysis of the conformitied model indicates that the number of the eigenvalues which possess the real being close to zero is decreased, Thus the rationality and correctness of the improvement is proved.In conclusion, The theory analysis, dynamatic simulation and the improvement are integrated closely to study the inertia brake, The correctness of analysis method and the simulation results are judged by the theory analysis,and the improvement comes from the theory analysis results,and the rationality and correctness of the improvement is proved by the simulation,A new approach for designing and studying the inertia brake is offered.
