The Research On The Characteristics Of Architecture Forms In Hilly Area

With rapid development of modern towns, some problems emerge during the construction processes, and get even severe. One of those is the destruction of hilly landforms. In some territories, people remove the hills in order to get flat grounds for constructions, which results in the identical urban spatial forms which can barely exhibit the various characters of towns and causes a ruin of entironment.The paper researches the characteristics of building spatial forms in the hilly areas of South-China, in order to bring out some new ideas to deal with the problems we have in the process of architecture design .What we discuss here is how to combine the massive buildings design and the individual buildings design with hilly landforms .The first part deals with the background and meanings of the research , and the objectives it intents to get . After that, the paper discusses the natural traits of hills ,including geology, sunlight, wind and etc. The second part probes into the urban spatial forms in hilly areas, and the advantages we can get if we develop constructions in areas of this kind.The main point of the whole paper is the characteristics of building spatial forms, comprising two aspects : massive buildings and individual buildings. In this part ,cutting in terms of the relationships between the buildings and the gradient of slopes, this text studies three types of massive buildings separately, which are residential buildings, public buildings and commercial buildings. Then it probes into the design of individual buildings ,and emphases the earthing ways of it.This thesis manages to find a balance point between the towns'developments and the protection of hilly landforms, it also studies the possible ways to combine the hills and architecture design. It is supposed that the research will help on some extent with the reconstruction of urban local characters.
