Firstly the paper introduces the kind and characteristic of locomotive crash accidents, the computer simulation method of crash process, locomotive crash study actualization of national and oversea;Secondly, the basic mechanical equation used in the simulation of the locomotive and vehicle crash, discrete structure of the locomotive and vehicle, the thin shell element and the discrete spring—damper element theory, the explicit integral algorithm, distort object crash rigid wall theory and contact crash theory are introduced;thirdly, the foundation of the crash finite element model of the locomotive and vehicle, the control of discrete the element etc. are discussed, the effect of these parameters on the simulation precision and efficiency are found. Afterwards, the crash process of the non-face (the face to face with angle, hereinafter short for non-face) thin-walled structure is simulated to find the effect of the crash angle, the cross section, the thickness on the crash capacity, and the simulation of the locomotive car-body with the energy absorber made up of the circle tube non-face impacting with the rigid wall face to face is taken, according to analysis of the crash result, we can get, the energy absorber is inefficacy in the non-face crash. At last, the half and quarter simulation model of the DF8B locomotive which the bogie is considered or not impacting with the rigid wall face to face with the speed of 10m/s and 15m/s is established, and then, the simulations are taken respectively. According to the comparison of the crash result, the half model which the bogie is considered more precise simulate the crash process can be got.
