The Research On The Application Of Bus Rapid Transit In Big Cities Of Our Country

With the development of economy, the urban traffic problem is becoming severe. The ultimate method to solving the traffic problem is public traffic. Railway transit has many advantages, such as great capacity and rapid speed, but is still limited by the disadvantages of high invest and long constructing period. The development of the traditional bus has being baffled because of its slow speed and bad service. The transportation characteristic of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is close to the Railway transit, but its cost is far below the Railway transit, so it is popularized to solve the traffic problem by the national engineering field. The appearance of BRT brings chance to solving the traffic problem in big cities of our country.Based on the context of citilization and mechanization, the thesis first analyses the necessity of developing BRT in our county, then discusses the feasibility of developing BRT. Next, the thesis work over four key problem of the application of BRT—the technique of constructing Bus lane, the technique of intersection priority, the technique of constructing BRT stop and the method of ascertaining the capacity of BRT vehicle. In the research of Bus lane, the thesis discusses the form of Bus lane, the method of BRT lane net planning, the efficiency of Bus lane, the manage measure of Bus lane. In the study of the technique of intersection priority, the thesis work over BRT inlet and the method of intersection priority. In the research of constructing BRT stop, the thesis discusses the principle of constructing the BRT stop, the scope in point of the various BRT stop, the principle of dimensional planning of BRT stop, the position of BRT stop and the method of ascertain the space between BRT stop. In the study of the capacity of BRT vehicles, the thesis brings forward the method of ascertain the capacity of BRT vehicles based on the research data of domestic and international.Finally, combining with the actuality of traffic in Xi'an, the thesis validates the technique above.
