The Study On The Theory Of Axis In Urban Design

The important status of axis in traditional urban design method which has been proved by the history of Western and Eastern architectures. There are many examples of axis in urban design not only in monomer architecture, modular architecture, but also in the art of cities' space. After industrial revolution, the tenet of urban design had been changed. The building design and city planning hadn't pay attention to esthetics and composition, but function and economy. With the development of form and the continual explore, the method of axis in urban design hadn't starve out, but be flourishing in the architectures' stage.This paper firstly quest for the origin of axis, and then analysis the concept of axis, the component and character of city's axis. After summing up the type of city's axis, the author found out the using measures of the axis in urban design. At last, the author analysis the axis how to been used in urban design, combining the axle wire designing in Beijing. The paper was wrote by the means of literature, proving and comparing. The whole paper is about forty-five thousand words, and it includes five parts except the concluding remarks.Part 1: It is the preface. Firstly, the author explains the necessary of studying the axis. Secondly, he analysis the background of writing and expatiate the aim, train of thoughts, ways and meaning. At the same time, he introduces the mutual theories in both here and abroad.Part 2: In this Part, the reader will preliminarily realize the city's axis by the analyses of the filiations of axis and the confrontation of the traditional axis of Western and Eastern countries.Part 3: In this Part, the author firstly gives the conception of the axis, and analysis the characteristics of city's axis compose from method to factors. Finally, the author discusses the conformational character and visional character on the basic of analyzing the style of the city's axis.Part 4: In this part, the author begin with analyzing the symmetry and variation regulation of axis, then puts forward the variation character of axis in urban design.Part 5: In this part, the author analysis the using of axis in urban design with the design practice of Beijing's axle wire. At last, the author brings forward some suggestions about Beijing's axle wire design.
