A Primary Study Of The Symmetry Axis In Xi'an City

Can the symmetry distribution in Xi'an, which is representing the distillate of Chinese traditional culture, still survive in the future? Is the symmetry distribution only a main embodiment of the outdated feudality and the power of the emperors? How can we now days treat the symmetry distribution of the cities? What are the deep-seated causes for its existence? What is the value of such a kind of symmetry distribution in the city?Starting from the above questions, I have arranged the symmetry axis and the correlative concepts, and cast back the historical developments of the symmetry distribution in China as well as in western cities, so that we could get a new understanding from different points of view. The importance of the symmetry distribution in human civilization is affirmed and we can see its requirement and possibility of existence in the future.Then I have analyzed how the symmetry distribution in Xi'an came into being, so to find out the causes for it. It was an objective result of the historical development. Basing on the existent situation of the symmetry distribution in Xi'an, I have studied the functions of the grounds , the distribution of public service systems, the traffic situations, and the material public living situations at some important points on the symmetry axis and found some problems of the symmetry distribution.The third part of the thesis is about the recognition and protection of the symmetry distribution in the city. It is an important part of the city development. The existence and new development of symmetric distribution may contribute a lot to the characters of the cities. Finally,I have summarize the value of symmetric distribution in Xi'an.At the end of the thesism, On this basis I have drawn the outline of the theory for protecting the symmetric distribution in Xi'an and a project for protetcting .I have made a planning project about the intending symmetry distribution in Xi'an, in which the historical and current symmetric distribution is reflected in the intending form. This would be a usefull exploration of the possibilities of the intending development of the distribution in Xi'an.
