With the instant development of world militarily, it is tendency that we must quicken our modernization construction pace and make great efforts to improve the comprehensive fighting power. Just under this background, in order to improve the inefficiency of manpower, low rates of participating in training, washiness of achievement test, it is necessary for our army to develop a set of automatic bombfall-locating system for practice with tank live ammunition. By putting this system into use, difficulties of safety guarantee, organizing and command, teaching observation can be conquered to a large extent.By employing picture processing technique, the ways of solve the problem of automatic bombfall-locating in the tank firing field is discussed. By applying automatic bombfall-locating technique instead of traditional manual bombfall-locating, the actual combat ability of armored force can be improved.The essence of automatic bombfall-locating is the cognizance of shothole images. The purpose of this thesis is developing a machinery vision system, which can dispose the information of shothole automatically and complete classification and cognizance, to replace the traditional labor method. In this thesis, the theory about data image processing, Vc++visual programming method and Matlab maths application software for database, imaging device, transmission equipment, sensor and control theory are employed to complete system development by combining software and hardware. In the beginning, the whole structure of firing field automatic system, logical relationship between different systems and dominant mechanism are simply introduced. The paper then pays special attention on studying about automatic processing and automated identification of shothole image.In this thesis, digital cameras, sensors are applied for the collection of target image, wire transmission is used for transmitting image signal to image handling center. Then the author employ a series of preprocessing means: image intensification for recovery image information loss when transmitting, valve worth method for segmentation between target image and background image to remove unnecessary background information, invariant characteristic of moment invariants for image normalizing to removing image distortion when collecting, conveying and processing. In order to complete automatic bomblfall-locating, the author next identify image edge information to obtain true information of hitting image after per-processing, use digital analog conversion to obtain hitting number by visual reading and convey to achievement assessment system to obtain the shooting achievement of shooters.When judging and identifying shothole image, the author pays main attention to synthetically interpretation about radius, circumference, circularity, the center coordinates. In order to identify shothole between non-overlapping and overlapping relation, match pattern and statistic pattern are employed. For purposes of obtaining the number of overlapping shotholes, the method of count the number of shothole by figuring out the center coordinates group by group based on edge information are proposed. In order to improve the speed of identification, the method that figure out the center coordinates group by group is ameliorated and fast algorithm of determining the number of centers based on edge information is obtained.Numerous test results show that its accurate rate is relatively high not only for machine gun shothole but also for cannonball. In addition recognizable speed is especially fast and the reorganization result is especially accurate for the machine gun shothole. Test result illustrates that this system can meet the requirement of tank live practice and can be popularized and applied among military tank training range. This will greatly improve training efficiency and will be convenient for the organization and application of tank live practice. At the same time it gets over all kinds of unsafe factors of artificial safeguard, which is very useful for improving our tank confrontation abilities.
