With the continuous expanding of electric network's scale, it is crucial for substation to run safely and reliably, while the electric equipments'running state is one key factor for the running state of substation. This paper applies image processing and pattern recognition technology to monitor electric equipments'state, studies on some analytic approaches of electric equipments'running-state. Subsequently,an approach of monitoring and analysis to electric equipments is put forward. First according to the different features of electric equipments'images, the distortions and noises are removed through image's preprocessing, and the images'quality is improved. Second the paper extracts features of different electric equipments and recognizes and classifies several equipments. Last the paper introduces a approach of images'detection which can identify whether the running state of electric equipments is in order.
