Investigation Of Qingdao Sifang First Textile Mill District And Research Of Regeneration Strategy

Qingdao Sifang First Textile Mill represents the process of almost 100 years' development of cotton textile industry in Qingdao. Because of the impacts of manufacture destroy, adjustment of the industry system, governmental policies and changes of urban space, it gradually faces of the decay of itself together with the district around in many aspects, such as space environment, economic development, urban life, social culture, and so on. As the industrial heritage with great value of reuse and cultural significance, its regeneration program should be directed by scientific theories of urban development and solve the actual problems of the recessionary phenomenon.The main body of the thesis include 3 parts: investigation and summarize of the recessionary phenomenon (chapter 2), analysis and argumentation of regeneration principles (chapter 3), regeneration strategies as the conclusion (chapter 4). First, demonstration investigation (including field survey and public investigation) and statistic method is implemented to research and summarize the recessionary phenomenon, on which the regeneration strategies are based, of First Textile Mill District and the city zones all around. Secondly, actual policies executed by the government and the public desire is investigated, analyzed and evaluated objectively, which could be used for reference. The Place Theory, the Sustainable Development Theory and the Gradual Development Theory are demonstrated as the fundamental principles of the regeneration program of Qingdao Sifang First Textile Mill. I.e. from the characters of our site, we should assure that all of its advantages are fully utilized and achieve sustainable development, and the process of regeneration program is gradual. Thirdly, based on the specific recessionary phenomenon, we could come to the 4 targets (strategies): renewal of the natural system, adjustment of the industry system, integrity of the public establishment, development of the cultural industry and the third industry. These 4 targets are also gradual steps of the regeneration program.The thesis has set up the research frame for recessionary phenomenon,regeneration principles and regeneration targets (strategies), and summarized the relationship and function mode between specific recessionary phenomenon and regeneration targets (strategies), and also the function mode between regeneration principles and regeneration targets (strategies). The feasibility of the strategies and the information feedback system has also been discussed.
