Recent years, with the development of high-speed computer and computationalfluid dynamics (CFD) software, it has become possible to simulate the temperaturefield, thermal comfort and optimum design cases of high space building heated bygas-fired radiation using CFD simulation. The gas-fired radiant heating is morecomfortable for occupants, energy-saving and efficiency than other traditional heatingmeans, which is a kind of new one suitable for high space. However, the design andinstallation of gas-fired radiant heating system for high space have to be carried outunder the guidance translated from the literatures supplied by foreign manufacturer, lacking of national standards and codes. The present paper carried out simulations for temperature field, thermal comfortof gas-fired radiant heating system of high space using Airpak2.1 software suppliedby Fluent company in order to provide valuable guideline for actual engineeringdesign and to put this new heating means into practice. The paper analyzed the distribution of temperature field, ventilation design andthermal comfort of the high space heated by gas-fired radiation on the basis ofsimulation theory and mathematic principle. The experimental research for heatedspace and heating condition of gas radiator was carried out and the experimentalresults were compared with the simulation results to test the validity of CFDsimulation. Some data obtained from the field survey was used in boundary conditionof CFD simulation to compute the temperature field of a gas laboratory heated bygas-fired radiation in Tianjin University. The research demonstrated that DO radiation model and standard k-εmodelcan simulate the temperature field of high space accurately and that the heating effectof gas-fired radiator can be improved by selecting suitable height of radiator andinstallation angle of reflection board.
