Temperature load is one of the main loads that effect onthe arch dam. Holding the temperature field and thecorresponding temperature-caused stress field duringconstruction and operation timely and exactly play animportant role in dam construction as well as its safetyoperation.Though we can pre-bury some measure facilities in the dambody to obtain some part of the temperature field and stressfield data, it is incapable to forecast its evolution andreflect the situation of the whole dam body comprehensively,much more to provide decision-making basis for the nextconstruction and safety operation. Therefore it isall-important to simulate and analyze the temperature fieldand the corresponding temperature-caused stress field of thedam body.Using the general simulation and analysis software ANSYS,the author personally write a simulation and analysis programof temperature field and stress field for concrete arch damduring its construction and operation. The whole process fromthe beginning of concrete pouring to construction accomplish,to steady operation is successfully simulated, syntheticallytaking all influence factors into account, for instance,releasing heat due to hydration, refrigeration by buryingwater pipe in dam body, dam body surface heat dispersion. Anda time-history of the whole dam body temperature field isgained. On the basis of temperature field analysis, the authordoes the stress analysis and gains the stress field evolutionof the dam body under the effect of temperature loadconsidering it as a complete elastic body. On the basis of allthese, taking the influence of creep on stress into account,the stress field under the effect of creep is also obtained.The process of dam pouring is simulated by active and deadelement. Sufficiently considering the boundary contactbetween arch dam and air, arch dam and water, the authorsimulates a practical heat boundary condition. When dealingwith the heat of hydration, in terms of concrete mixture ratio,we can gain the heat production velocity of unit volumeconcrete and make it as load condition. In this way thetemperature hoisting distribution caused by heat of hydrationwill be more reasonable. During the arch dam operation, thispaper adopts the alterable time step method in terms of thedegree difference of the temperature changes between differentperiods. During the concrete pouring and soon after theconstruction completion, short time step is adopted in orderto show temperature evolution exactly;while after the end ofheat of hydration, larger time step is adopted to save the costof calculating time and space as well as the precision of thesimulation.The analysis results show that the simulation and analysisprogram of temperature field and stress field for concrete archdam based on ANSYS have real-time simulation and forecastingfunction, good generality and openness, and can be developedincessantly to achieve more exactly results and more function.
