Application And Research For Multi-scaler System On Virtual Instrument Technology

In this paper, according to the working mechanism of traditional multi-scaler and its weakness, the virtual instrument and advanced bus technology are introduced. With the application of PCI-6602 board of NI Company, PCI-1240 board of Advantech Company on the conditions of the Lab Windows/CVI software and the technology of the virtual instrument, the system structure of virtual multi-scaler that is often used in nuclear field is exploited. In this new virtual multi-channels counter system, timing and numbering working are realized. Meanwhile, the application of technology of Virtual Instrument is also extended. The system structure design of virtual multi-channel analyzer, particularize the functions of every modules and its software implementation method are introduced in this paper.Virtual multi-channel DAQ system realizes the 64 channels' data acquisition of neutron-scattered pulse signals and control function to data acquired position. Two modes of data acquisition, constant time and constant number, are designed, which make user to choose data acquired mode and corresponding parameters by his need. Neutron acquisition and position are combined well by controlling the stepper to adjust the data acquired position simultaneously. In this new system, tables and figures can display acquired data. Meanwhile, the new system have the functions of the spectrum's saving and off line reading, user can read, write and analyze the nuclear spectrum off line. On the other hand, it also can do other data processing after data is acquired.Virtual multi-channel DAQ system makes the best use of computer resource and has many virtues such as shareable resource, flexible use, friendly interface, low cost, easy to extend and modify. In the end, the testing of the whole set of controlling system in lab is in accord with the technique requirements.
