The quality of buildings’ acoustic environment plays an important role in people’s daily life. However, due to crowd transportation, dense population and frequent use of all kinds of light materials, sound pollution is becoming increasingly serious, which directly leads to worse city acoustic environment and causes more sound pollution problems and conflicts. At present, how to improve sound insulation of buildings and how to build a comfortable and healthy acoustic environment turns to be a hot issue. With this issue, the author carried out some practical investigations, and found that the light sound insulation wall and doors cannot meet people’s demand of sound insulation. In this thesis, Acoustical property of the walls and windows are studied. After comprehensive consideration of building materials, the structure of walls and doors, the acoustic module of LMS Virtual.Lab is adopted to the sound insulation effect of windows and walls. This thesis mainly carries out researches from the following aspects:(1) The development and application of building sound insulation at home and abroad is briefly reviewed. The concept and function of sound insulation is presented. The necessity to study and develop new type wall structure is addressed. The advantages and disadvantages to study sound insulation by experimental and numerical simulation are summarized.(2) The fundamental principles of sound insulation and the evaluation of sound insulation function are described. Introduce the sound insulation theories of both single and double layer wall are introduced. Besides, by studying resonance problems and coincident effect, the thesis points out the difficulties and key problems of sound insulation.(3) Using questionnaires and interviews, the author inquires and analyzes how people in different environment are affected by noise and the sound insulation condition of buildings component. After finding the reason of bad performance of building component, the author summarizes problems of common sound insulation problems and finds corresponding ways to solve and improve these problems.(4) Through the comparison between the results from our simulations and those from experimented studies, the proposed method is verified. The sound insulation capacity of mono-layer, inter-layer and insulated glass is investigated, and then the relation between the effect of double-layer window and the insulating layer isconsidered. Also, the sound insulation effect of mono-layer, composite and double-layer wall is analyzed. Further, the effect of sound insulation on the leakage characteristics of gap structure and solid sound propagation is also simulated.(5) Based on the above-mentioned work, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. Some composite walls with windows are constructed and analyzed.Accordingly, a newly combined wall structure with excellent sound insulation their sound insulation is proposed.
