In recent years, because of electric and electronic technology at full speed of development, with the wide application of various kinds of electric and electronic convenors and other non-linear load such as arc furnace, this problem about harmonic has caused people's more and more concerns and drawn much attention increasingly by enterprises and power management sectors. On the other hand, the rapid progress in computer technology, signal processing theory and methods and the sharp deline in the prices of DSP chips have led the application of DSP to a more profound extent.In order to monitor power harmonic real-timely and accurately, grasp the actual conditions of power network harmonic, take measures to suppress the harmonic and improve power quality, the paper presents a new design of a harmonic test apparatus for power system based on single-chip microcontroller AT89C51 as master CPU and digital signal processor TMS320VC5402 as the slave CPU. This device has a character of operation fast, precision hign, simple structure, relatively cheap cost for fabrication, operation easily, strong display and so on. The paper are concentrated on discussing the design method of software and hardware about harmonic test apparatus for power system based on DSP technology and are laid on the following:(1) Overall design of the system and function of circuit, (2) Hardware design including power and clock circuit, A/D conversion circuit, phase lock, HPI interface circuit, keystroke and liquid crystal display and so on, (3) Design of system software including the program of A/D conversion, the program of FFT with assemble language, DSP master interface, the program of keystroke/LCD display interrupt service, DSP Bootloader and so on, (4) System measure for anti-interference and software simulation.
