The microprocessor based protective equipment's reliability is more important to safe and reliable operation of the power systems. At present, the settlement of protective equipment in the switchyard of substation has widely been adopted in power systems because of economy. It is a new challenge to immunity for the microprocessor based protective equipment trending miniaturization, intelligence and integration. The paper studied the microprocessor based protective equipment's immunity against electrical fast transient (EFT). The characteristic, the interference coupling mechanisms and propagation path is analyzed and modeling. The methods for ensuring EMC have been brought forward in virtue of experiments. In addition, electromagnetic emission (EMI) for the microprocessor based protective equipment has been studied in this paper. At first, equivalent circuit of conducted EMI was established and corresponding measure was brought forward. Secondly, radiation emission has been studied and improved measures were given.
