| In this paper, a model of Virtual Prototype(VP) about how to simulate the kinetics mechanism of a diesel engine with 16 pistons, 16 connect rods and their crank, is set up based on the I-deas, which is a CAD/CAE/CAM software, and ADAMS, which is a multibody dynamical simulation software. Based on this special model, the kinetics and dynamics analysis are studied. And then, the optimum design is carried on also. In this optimum model, the design variables are corresponding mass coordination, and the objective function is unbalance force. Once the unbalance force is reduced, the vibration level will be reduced as well.Using the CAD tool, I-deas, 3-d model including all parts in this crank system are easily created. Applied the interface between I-deas and ADAMS, the simulation model could be easily translated from I-deas to ADAMS also. After some modification for this model, ADAMS is able to solve this model and some very useful results including dynamical displacement, velocities, accelerations, reaction forces have been obtained. Based on these results, the designers could reduce vibration level due to unbalance forces. The all results, in this paper, not only show that new simulation method is much better than the traditional method, but also show that the VP technology is very useful when kinetics and dynamics analysis are needed for the crank system. And Especially, when the analysis system is more complicated, the VP technology will be useful. |
